Our mission is to support associate clinicians in creating profitable and rewarding private practices through providing a pathway to in-network insurance credentialing and excellent, stress-free, billing support services. 

I developed Lemon Squeezy in response to the problem that associate therapists are confronted with when insurance companies won't contract with them.  I moved to Washington state in 2017 as a fully licensed therapist, so I did not fully appreciate the challenges that associate clinicians experience in their settings in this state. In my work as a clinical supervisor, I became informed as associates shared about their experiences. I heard story after story of group practices financially exploiting novice clinicians, of agency settings expecting unmanageable caseloads and productivity demands, and work environments that were enacting harm on both clients and clinicians.

I watched as Covid complicated things for associate therapists by further limiting the already sparse options for counseling grads to earn their hours. Additionally, the shift to telehealth highlighted how little support some group practices were actually providing to associates (while continuing to take 35% - 50% of their fees).  Many wanted to open their own practices, however being unable to accept insurance was a major obstacle.  Their current clients could not afford to pay out of pocket, and most new client inquiries were often wanting to use their insurance benefits.

And so Lemon Squeezy was born. I worked with a few close friends who were wiling to build the plane while we were flying it.  I've learned a lot along the way and now have a wonderful team of professionals including medical billers, credentialing experts, an attorney, and an admin assistant who help make our members experience easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!
 

I am very proud that Lemon Squeezy is empowering therapist entrepreneurs in building thriving businesses.  I now hear story after story from members who say they have time to be with their families, income that allows them to meet their financial goals, the freedom and flexibility that comes with being their own boss, and deeper satisfaction in their clinical work.
